Internet Explorer 8 是 Internet Explorer 的第八个版本。它随 Windows 7 和 Windows Server 2008 R2 一起作为默认浏览器发布，并且也提供给 Windows XP SP2、Windows Server 2003 SP2、Windows Vista 和 Windows Server 2008 使用。
Internet Explorer 8.0 对网络标准的关注有所增加，且能够通过 Acid2 测试。虽然其合规性不如 Mozilla Firefox、Opera 或 Safari，但在发布时仍略有改进。引入了兼容性视图功能，以模拟旧版 IE 7 的行为。兼容性视图列表可以从 Microsoft 自动下载。它还包括推荐网站，并将书签显示在任务栏的独立部分，而不是在标签旁边。
这是 Internet Explorer 的最后一个 IA-64 版本，但它仅预装在 Windows Server 2008 R2 的 IA-64 版本中。它并不适用于早期基于 IA-64 的 Windows 版本。
这是支持 Windows XP SP2~SP3、Windows Server 2003 SP2、Windows Vista RTM~SP1 和 Windows Server 2008 RTM 的最后一个 Internet Explorer 版本；后续版本需要 Windows Vista SP2 和 Windows Server 2008 SP2 或更高版本。
