Internet Explorer 1 是 Internet Explorer 的首个版本，它是 Spyglass Mosaic 的微调版本。IE 1.0 作为 Microsoft Plus! 95 中的 Internet Jumpstart Kit 的一部分与 Windows 95 的 OEM 版本一起提供。但是，它仍然可以安装在 Windows 3.1x 和 Windows NT 3.1-3.51（使用 Win32s）以及没有 Internet Explorer 的 Windows 95 版本上。

历史

Internet Explorer 项目于 1994 年夏季成立，由 Thomas Reardon 开始开发。根据麻省理工学院在 2003 年发布的研究报告指出，Internet Explorer 曾经使用了 Spyglass Mosaic 的源代码。Spyglass Mosaic 是一个早期的商业网络浏览器，曾经与开创性的国家超级计算应用中心（NCSA）的 Mosaic 浏览器合作过。虽然在名称上与 NCSA Mosaic 相似，但 Spyglass Mosaic 在使用 NCSA Mosaic 源代码时并不是完全使用，而是有所取舍。

1994 年底，Microsoft 以每季度付费订阅的方式从 Spyglass Mosaic 获得了许可，并使其成为非 Windows 产品市场份额的一部分。

1995 年 8 月 16 日，Microsoft Internet Explorer 版本 1.0 首次亮相。

法律问题

Internet Explorer 团队在早期开发中是一个由六名成员组成的团队。几个月后，Windows NT 发布了 Internet Explorer 1.5，在其中添加了对基本表呈现的支持。通过将其免费包含在他们的操作系统中，他们无需向 Spyglass Inc 支付版权费用，从而导致诉讼的发生。

由于商标侵权，Microsoft 于 1996 年被 Synet Inc. 起诉。随后在 1997 年 1 月 22 日，两公司以 800 万美元的赔偿金和解。
