新增功能和更改

启动屏幕

引入了新的启动屏幕，旨在替换自 Build 2428 以来使用的版本。此启动屏幕放大 Windows 徽标和文字标记，同时为 Windows 标志添加颜色。因此，四个彩色条被替换为“loading...（正在加载...）”字符串逐步进入和退出。

Microsoft 徽标已移至底部，屏幕左下角有一个新的“Version 2002”标签。由于系统现在处于 Release Candidate 1 阶段，因此“Beta 2 Release”文本也被删除。

Windows 安装程序

安装程序开始时的 Windows Whistler Beta 2 参考更改为显示 Windows XP RC1。

全新安装体验

“Will you be share this computer with others？（您会与他人共享这台计算机吗？）”页面从全新安装体验中完全删除，取而代之的是“谁将使用此计算机？（Who will use this computer？）”页面。

升级安装程序

在升级安装程序的第一页添加了一条新注释，指定计算机将在安装过程中多次重新启动。现在，在第一次重新启动之前还会显示红色的进度条。

在 16 色输出阶段，步骤指示器更改为使用单选按钮而非复选标记。

用户界面

安装程序和用户界面中几乎所有的 Whistler 引用都被 Windows XP 替换。任务栏现在也默认处于锁定状态，同时禁用了快速启动。

登录屏幕

位于登录屏幕上的动画 Windows 标志现在可以正常工作。此标志在注销后会波动 ~5 秒，然后停止。

桌面

桌面图标标签现在默认使用阴影，而不是纯色背景。

控制面板和 Windows 资源管理器

在控制面板的类别视图（Category View）的背景中添加了一个清单图标。不缓存缩略图（not cache thumbnails）的选项也添加到文件夹选项（Folder Options）小程序中。

Windows 资源管理器、Internet Explorer 和 Outlook Express 中使用的动画更新为使用 Windows XP 徽标。“Looking for your programs？”文本也重命名为“These files are hidden...”。

“开始”菜单

“开始”菜单中添加了新的“我最近的文档”选项，其中包括登录用户打开的最近文件。除此之外，还添加了一个“我的视频”文件夹，此文件夹默认包含一个 Movie Maker 示例视频。显示任务栏或“开始”菜单的所有图像缩略图也在任务栏和“开始”菜单属性中进行了更新。

经典“开始”菜单中的图标缩小，横幅也获得了最终外观。

示例图片和壁纸

添加了五个新的示例图片，其中包括：Crew、Mountain vista、Orange canyon、Surfer 和 Winter（在此版本和 Build 2485 中称为 Winter forest）。这些示例图片（Winter 图片除外）之后将会在 Build 2486 中替换为它们的 RTM 对应图片。

Follow me 壁纸重命名为 Follow。

Windows 产品激活

Windows 产品激活更新为包括 Luna 设计。此设计与全新安装体验一样，使用深蓝色的顶部和底部栏，与橙色指示器分隔，并在背景中显示一个键图标。

漫游 Windows XP

漫游 Windows XP 现在默认为全屏显示。

Internet Explorer

The dialog which appears when downloading a file has the radio buttons for selecting between running the file after the download or saving it to the disk replaced with links.

其他

• 刷子现在设置为画图中的默认绘画工具。
• MSN Messenger 更新到版本 4.0。
• 错误检查代码0xEE（PREFETCHER_POOL_ERROR_BUGCHECK）和 0xF0（PREFETCHER_PROCESS_REFERENCE_BUGCHECK）均已删除。0xEE 永远不会重新实现，而 0xF0 以后将在 Windows 10 创意者更新开发期间被重新分配为 STORAGE_MINIPORT_ERROR。
• 更改了错误检查字体。
