Windows NT 3.1 build 239 is the official PDK2 build of Windows NT 3.1. It was compiled on 21 December 1991.
新增功能和更改
- The Video 7 VGA driver now supports 1024×768 at 16 colors as opposed to only 800×600.
- The color palette has been changed to the one used by Windows 3.1 and build 196 as opposed to the older Windows 3.0 palette used by the October build.
- The kernel in this build has transitioned from the COFF format to the PE format.
- Several new programs are introduced in this build, including CPU Thermometer, P/T Status, WinPerf (an early version of Performance Monitor), and ZoomIn, a basic screen magnifier.
MIPS 编译
This is the earliest available build of Windows NT to run on the MIPS R4000 architecture. Due to its rudimentary state, a custom ARC firmware ROM image must be used. Failure to do so will cause problems with the bootloader and the installer. This build is also very unstable in QEMU, and will therefore hang during boot. It will install properly in MAME, however the boot entry will be incomplete and subsequently must be rectified in the ARC firmware setup.
Bugs and quirks
- After installing this build via the batch script, setup incorrectly mislabels the "MS-DOS" entry as "OS/2" in the dual-boot menu
- The MS-DOS option in the boot menu may not work and may throw a "Non-System disk or disk error" message
Setup
When installing this build either via INSTALL.BAT or INSTALL.CMD, there's a chance for it to be stuck at "Configuring NT filles...". if this happens, reboot and try again.
