Windows 8 build 8412 is an unleaked pre-RTM build of Windows 8. A screenshot of its Preinstallation Environment running an automated deployment script was found on the contents of an HP Pavilion TPN-Q112[a] development machine, which ran a copy of build 8419.[1] Multiple log files are present in the publicly available dump of said build in the SYSTEM.SAV\Logs\ directory, along with said screenshots. Additionally, Three screenshots of the CoreARM version were uploaded to the website BetaUnleaked on 6 August 2023, although they cannot be confirmed or refuted at this time.[2] Images of this build's x86 compile in the Pro SKU were found on an eBay listing for a Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 prototype.[3] Despite the build number being higher than the official Release Preview, it was compiled eleven days earlier.
This build is notable for having the hash removed from the watermark, in a similar case to build 8375, however, unlike build 8375, the hash is now present in the winver dialog.
Changes
The "Release Preview" branding in the Pro SKU has been reverted back to "Pro", similar to the final release.
