Self-Host Vote notification in Windows Longhorn build 4042 (Lab06_n) | |
| 类型 | internal tool |

| 包含于 | Windows Vista (pre-release builds only) |
Self-Host Vote (VoteNow.exe) is an internal application that appears in various pre-release builds of Windows Vista, which was used to collect feedback about the quality of self-hosted builds. On eligible systems, it displays a toast notification asking users to visit an internal Microsoft site.
The application runs a series of checks before the notification is shown. The first check verifies that the machine is joined into a known Microsoft domain. The following domain names are included in the allow list:
NTDEVWINDEPLOYREDMONDSEGROUPXREDXCORPCORPWINSEINTERACTIVEWINGROUPSYS-WINGROUPPHXAFRICAEUROPEMIDDLEEASTNORTHAMERICASOUTHAMERICASOUTHPACIFIC
The second check verifies that the build lab is one of the following: Lab01, Lab02, Lab21, Lab03, Lab04, Lab06, Lab07 or main.
If both checks pass, then the application waits for 4 hours and then displays a toast notification with two buttons, "Vote Now" which navigates to an intranet ballot page in Internet Explorer,[a] and "Later" which restarts the application. Clicking the notification outside of the buttons navigates to http://longhorn/selfhost/.
