安装
Hardware compatibility
如果在 VMware 中将硬件兼容性设置为版本 6.0 或更高版本，版本可能会卡在安装程序的硬件部分。要绕过此 bug，必须将 VMware 硬件兼容性设置为版本 5.x 或更低版本。
分区
在某些设备和虚拟机上，安装程序无法对硬盘驱动器进行分区，因此需要使用 DiskPart。使用 DiskPart 格式化硬盘驱动器，然后重新启动计算机。
升级
无法从以下位置安装或升级到此版本：
- 由于断言错误，任何重置前的 Longhorn 版本或 Build 5048。
- Build 5000 和 Build 5001 导致的
setup.exe崩溃。
从 Windows 2000、Windows XP、Windows Vista Build 5231 或 Build 5231.2 升级时，壁纸更改为 img24。此问题一直持续到 Build 5466。
Starter SKU
This is the first build to block processors newer than the Pentium III. Unlike build 5270 and later, system immediately reboots to Safe mode once an incompatible processor is detected.

To use the Starter SKU, it either needs to be installed on a computer or VM utilizing one of the supported processors or the CPUID needs to be modified to run it on newer processors. This works with 86Box, with QEMU by setting -cpu=pentium3 or VMware by adding the following files to the VMX file of the VM:

稳定性
- 此版本往往存在稳定性问题，并且在执行简单任务（例如安装驱动程序和打开应用程序）时很容易崩溃。
- 已知此版本中的 ATI LDDM 驱动程序在大多数显示卡上都非常不稳定，会产生伪影、性能降低或崩溃。这可以通过使用 Build 5270 的 ATI 驱动程序来实现。
Windows 资源管理器

设备管理器
