Windows Vista Build 5840.16384 是 Windows Vista 的官方 Launch Preview 版本，于 2006 年 10 月下旬向企业发布，用于评估目的。[1]此版本（还包括 NetBIOS 系统驱动程序的调试符号）最初于 2006 年 10 月 27 日由 warez 小组 BetaInsiders 共享，后来中文网站 BetaWorld 于 2024 年 1 月 2 日上传了来自 Microsoft 发布的评估套件的未修改副本。[2]

它是已知的最后一个默认使用峡谷壁纸的版本，并包括 Windows XP 的声音方案。与从早期版本的 Windows 升级到 Build 5824 相关的 bug 已得到修复。

尚不清楚此版本是否有任何更新公开发布，尽管已知存在一些更新版本。Process Monitor 文档显示 Windows 边栏可执行文件的版本号为 5840.16386。[3]
