Windows Me Build 2404 是 Windows Me 的 Beta 2 前版本，最初于 1999 年 10 月 29 日发布[1]，后来于 2015 年 6 月 23 日被发现。[2]
新增功能和更改
- 现在，当安装程序前进到另一个屏幕时，它会播放翻页声。
- “Beta One”标签已从启动屏幕上删除，而 HTML 帮助现在使用 Beta 2 品牌标识。
- 启动屏幕上的“code name（开发代号）”字样现在拼写为“CODENAME”。
- 桌面上出现了一个新的“File a bug report（提交错误报告）”图标。
- 添加了 MSN Gaming Zone 中的 Internet 游戏，这些游戏将包含在更高版本的 Windows 中，直至 Windows 7。
- DirectX 从版本 7.0 更新到 7.1。
- Windows Installer 1.1 现已包含在内。

Bug
S3 驱动程序
使用 S3 视频适配器时，Windows 会提示自己的驱动程序无法正常工作，因此显示器将卡在 640×480 分辨率和 16 色模式。此错误也会在每次启动时出现，并且无法正确安装其他驱动程序，这意味着不建议将 S3 视频适配器用于此版本。
Windows Media Player
在某些配置上，Windows Media Player 在此版本中不工作，并且在启动时会显示 PCHealth 常规保护故障错误。
Neptune 参考
在此 Millennium 版本中发现了两个名为 gemstar.sys 和 wspirdak.sys 的文件，版本号为 5.50.5086.1，但尚不清楚此 Neptune 版本是否曾经存在过。
一些人推测这可能是 Milestone 1 的后期或 Milestone 2 的早期版本。从归档日期来看，它应该是在 1999 年 10 月 26 日之前编译的。
