Windows 98 Build 1546 是 Windows 98 的官方 Beta 2 版本，于 1997 年 7 月 31 日发布^[1]，提供英语、简体中文和德语版本可用。Warez 小组 SWAT 在官方发布前 4 天泄露了英语版本。西班牙语版本在杂志扫描中显示，但截至当前仍未泄露。^[2]据报道，根据 BBS 论坛的帖子，也存在法语版本，但它也没有泄露。^[3]

新增功能和更改

引入了一个新的启动屏幕，品牌为 Windows 98 Beta 2。

安装

建议不要使用“Realtek RTL8029AS”作为网络适配器，因为它可能会阻止 Windows 启动。
在此版本的简体中文版本的安装程序中，Windows Update 被错误地拼写为“Window Update”。
此版本的安装程序包括的 WINSETUP.BIN 安装程序始终无法识别，并将导致大多数虚拟器上的安装程序崩溃，但 Microsoft Virtual PC、86Box、VARCem 和某些版本的 VMware 除外，这是由于 CPU 内核的段限制仿真不正确。若要修补此版本以在任何虚拟器上运行，请使用早期版本或 RTM 中的 WINSETUP.BIN。
