Windows 98 Build 1500 是 Windows 98 的 Beta 1 版本，最初由 PWA 于 1997 年 5 月 20 日泄露，后来在 Crazybytes 16 warez CD 汇编的第四张光盘上被发现，并于 2013 年 7 月 24 日在 BetaArchive 上共享。[1]

安装程序
- 将安装程序中使用的字体从 Times New Roman 和 Microsoft Sans Serif 更改为 Arial。
- 首次启动到此版本时，RTM 中看到的纯蓝色设置为墙纸，而非以前使用的 Windows 徽标。
- 通过 EULA 进入安装程序时，时间指示器现在报告 43 分钟而不是 25 分钟，因为它现在位于安装程序的第二阶段也可用。以前，指标的位置应该留空，因为它在第一阶段完成时已经设置为 0。
- 侧边栏中的“设置步骤”现在显示为白色而不是红色，时间指示器显示为黄色而不是绿色。
- 这是实现处理器检查的首个版本，因此，安装程序不再支持 80386 处理器，尽管错误消息说需要 80386 或更高版本，而实际上需要 80486 或更高版本。但是，Windows 本身仍然能够在 80386 处理器上运行。

安装
- 此版本上的安装程序包括
WINSETUP.BIN，安装程序始终无法识别该WINSETUP.BIN，并导致大多数虚拟机上的安装程序崩溃，但 Microsoft Virtual PC、86Box、和某些版本的 VMware 除外，这是由于 CPU 内核的段限制仿真不正确。若要修补此版本以在任何虚拟器上运行，请使用早期版本或 RTM 中的WINSETUP.BIN。 - 在桌面上，The Internet 没有标题。
