Windows 8 build 8027 is a pre-Developer Preview/Milestone 3 build of Windows 8, which was referenced in the NVIDIA source code leak from 28 February 2022 in the file dev\gpu_drv\stage_rel\drivers\tegra\platform\build\readme.txt. The Intel LPIA (Low Power Intel Architecture, meant for low-power Intel Atom SoCs) drop consisting of the free and checked compiles and SDK, WDK and WinDbg, was shared on 31 October 2024.

Charms bar accessibility
To enable the right-hand charms bar on a non-touchscreen device, open the Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell. A DWORD value called CharmBarMode must be created in this key and its value set to 1.

Bugs and quirks
Redpill
The DirectUI layout code for this build's logon screen is invalid and will prevent logon from completing successfully on the checked compile, unless auto-logon is enabled.
OOBE background
The background image in the out-of-box experience does not render correctly; it appears vertically stretched, with vertical stripes, and only in monochrome. This bug still exists in all later Redpill-based builds.
Upgrade
After the preparation phase of the upgrade, Windows may encounter a bugcheck with the error code SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED caused by winhv.sys. To bypass this, boot into Safe Mode and delete or rename the file located at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.
