New features and changes
Redpill
- The Microsoft Store tile is now present in the Start screen, albeit broken.
- Most Metro animations have been refined and are now identical to the final Developer Preview build.
Printer test page
The printer test page design has seen major changes for the first time since Windows Server 2003. Following changes can be observed when comparing to the previous design:
- The Windows XP-era logo has been replaced by its then-current counterpart.
- The header has been shrunken in size and now uses Segoe UI rather than Times New Roman.
- The font family changes also apply to the text, replacing the previously used Lucida Console.
- The document now utilizes text formatting, with the newly added sub-headers for printer properties, printer driver properties and additional driver files utilizing bold text.
- Text strings have been reworded or removed.
Bugs and quirks
Upgrade
After the preparation phase of the upgrade, Windows may encounter a bugcheck with the error code SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED caused by winhv.sys. To bypass this, boot into Safe Mode and delete or rename the file located at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.
XPS Viewer
XPS Viewer has graphical issues when displaying the content of documents.
