Windows 11 build 26220.7344 is an Insider Preview build of Windows 11 2025 Update. It was released to the Windows Insiders in the Dev and Beta Channels on 5 December 2025 as the KB5066383 enablement update to build 26100.7344 (KB5070316).

Owing to the nature of Windows feature enablement updates, it was distributed over Windows Update services as a complete system upgrade rather than as an ordinary cumulative update, with base checkpoint CU build 26100.1742 installed.

New features and changes

Shell

  • The ability to install a relevant app via Microsoft Store directly from the "Open With" dialog has been added and gradually rolled out.
  • The "AI Actions" option will no longer show in the context menu if there are no available or enabled AI Actions. This change is gradually rolled out, but can be activated manally by enabling the 59193521 velocity staging key.

Miscellaneous

  • Native support for Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open-source protocol to standardize integrations between AI apps and external tools and data sources, has been integrated into this build in its preview state. MCP on Windows provides Windows on-device registry (ODR), a secure and manageable interface to discover and use agent connectors from local apps and remote servers using MCP.[1] Two agent connectors are available:
  1. File Explorer Connector: Allows agent to manage, organize and retrieve local files on a user's device with their consent. On Copilot+ devices, the connector can perform natural language search to retrieve the exact file based on descriptions, content, metadata, and, for images, enhanced search based on image classification.
  2. Windows Settings Connector: Allows agent to check, change settings, or navigate directly to specific pages in the Settings app using natural language.
  • The Unified Update Orchestration Platform (UOP), a unified, intelligent update orchestration platform capable of supporting any update (apps, drivers, etc.) to be orchestrated via Windows Update, has been gradually rolled out. UOP will trigger an app that was registered with UOP APIs to scan, download and install updates based on user activity and system state, and the app will report update status back to UOP. The AppsApp Updates page in the Settings app, previously implemented but non-functional in build 26220.7271, is now fully functional as part of this feature.
  • This is the first build to support Release Candidate 1 of Windows MIDI Services App SDK, a new open-source MIDI API for Windows that was previously introduced in build 27788.[2]
  • Quick machine recovery (QMR) will now be turned on automatically on the Professional SKU that are not domain-joined.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed an issue in build 26220.7271 that was causing the DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL bugcheck when using a controller.
  • Fixed an underlying issue that was causing Windows to freeze when attempting to run Windows Terminal elevated from a non-admin account.
  • Fixed a recent issue that was causing the search window to unexpectedly start floating above the taskbar.
  • Fixed an issue where File Explorer might not search certain SMB shares.
  • Fixed an issue that was resulting in fingerprint recognition not working in certain scenarios.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Project pane to not appear after pressing ⊞ Win+P.
  • Fixed an issue with the Xbox full screen experience (rolled out in build 26220.7271) enabled, where virtual keyboard would not shown for controller users on devices without a touch screen.

Bugs and quirks

  • Start menu and Notification Center may not open on click in certain scenarios.
  • Certain apps may not show in the system tray properly.
  • Bluetooth device battery level may not show in certain scenarios.
  • File Explorer may show a white flash when navigating between pages after build 26220.7262.
  • Opening the context menu may cause explorer.exe to crash.
  • The following issues are applicable if the support for dark mode in Win32 file operation dialogs (rolled out in builds 26120.6772/26220.6772) is enabled:
    • Scrollbar and footer may be missing and showing a white block instead when text is scaled in the copy/paste dialog.
  • The following issues are applicable if the Xbox full screen experience (rolled out in build 26220.7271) is enabled:
    • Some apps may behave unexpectedly, particularly those that expect to be locked to a given size or launch additional windows.
