'''Internet Explorer 8''' is the eighth version of [[Internet Explorer]]. It shipped with [[Windows 7]] and [[Windows Server 2008 R2]] as the default browser and was also made available for [[Windows XP Build 2600.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158|Windows XP SP2,]] [[Windows Server 2003 Build 3790.3959.srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710|Windows Server 2003 SP2]], [[Windows Vista]] and [[Windows Server 2008]].

Internet Explorer 8.0 added a slight increase of focus towards web standards and was capable of passing the Acid2 test. While not as compliant as Firefox, Opera, or Safari, upon release it was a slight improvement. A compatibility view feature was introduced to emulate the old IE 7 behavior. Compatibility view lists could be downloaded automatically from Microsoft. It also includes suggested websites and displays bookmarks in its own section in the taskbar instead of next to the tabs.
		
This is the last IA-64 version of [[Internet Explorer]], though it is only pre-installed in the IA-64 edition of Windows Server 2008 R2. It was not available for earlier IA-64 based versions of Windows.

It is the last version of Internet Explorer to support [[Windows XP Build 2600.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158|Windows XP SP2]]–[[Windows XP build 2600.5512|SP3]], [[Windows Server 2003 Build 3790.3959.srv03_sp2_rtm.070216-1710|Windows Server 2003 SP2]], [[Windows Vista Build 6000.16386.vista_rtm.061101-2205|Windows Vista RTM]]–[[Windows Vista build 6001.18000|SP1]] and [[Windows Server 2008 Build 6001.18000.longhorn_rtm.080118-1840|Windows Server 2008 RTM]]; the succeeding version requires [[Windows Vista Build 6002.18005.lh_sp2rtm.090410-1830|Windows Vista SP2]] and [[Windows Server 2008 Build 6002.18005.lh_sp2rtm.090410-1830|Windows Server 2008 SP2]] or newer.
