OS/2 1.1 is a version of OS/2, which was released in late 1988. It was the first version to include a GUI, called Presentation Manager, which resembles Windows 2.x.

Presentation Manager

OS/2 1.1 is the first version of OS/2 to include the Presentation Manager GUI. While Presentation Manager was planned during OS/2 1.0's development, it wasn't yet done at the time of OS/2 1.0's ship date, so OS/2 1.0 shipped as a command-line-only OS, though the SDK for OS/2 1.0 included Windows 1.04's SDK, in an effort to get developers starting to write GUI programs. The look-and-feel of Presentation Manager as well as its APIs bear a strong resemblance to contemporary Windows, as Microsoft was developing them both at the same time. OS/2's window management functions, along with the event model are nearly identical to Windows. At the time, IBM and Microsoft intended for Windows to be a stepping stone to OS/2 (with Windows 2.x even being branded as a "Presentation Manager" and advertising itself as giving a "standard path to OS/2, the operating system of the future"), so having a common user-interface and making it easy for programmers to port their software was paramount.
