| This build introduces a new version of the [[w:Segoe UI|Segoe UI]] typeface, featuring smoother curves in numbers and diacritics, removed serifs and optimizations to improve legibility; much of which is derived from the [[Windows Phone 7]] counterpart Segoe WP. This new version also implements true italicized versions of the Light, Semilight and Semibold font weights, and further introduces support for Middle- and Far East writing systems and character sets which include (but are not limited to) the Arabic, Armenian, Khmer, Hebrew and Georgian scripts. This significantly improves compatibility with applications that make use of right-to-left languages, as [[w:MS Sans Serif|MS Sans Serif]] was originally used for existing Win32 applications.

The positions of the Resize, Pin and Advanced Options charms in the Start screen app bar have been changed, and the position of the Advanced Options charm glyph has been fixed. Programs displayed while searching for applications in the Start screen are now sorted alphabetically and additionally by their respective [[“开始”菜单|Start menu]] program groups; this also applies to searches performed while in semantic zoom mode.

| Navigation buttons are now sized correctly within charms and in immersive dialogs. The [[Windows 产品激活|Windows Product Activation]] page in the [[Immersive Control Panel]] has been slightly altered to feature the ability to manually activate the operating system rather than waiting for network connectivity, and now immediately automatically removes itself after a successful activation.

| [[w:MultiMediaCard|MultiMediaCard]]-based storage mediums (such as [[w:Secure Digital|Secure Digital]] (SD) cards and [[w:eMMC|eMMC]]s) are mounted by the operating system as read-only/write-protected file systems in the ARMv7 compile,{{efn|Only observed on Surface RT hardware as of writing; other hardware untested.}} preventing the build from booting if deployed onto eMMC storage; the build must instead be booted from a non-MMC medium such as an external USB mass storage device, or via a [[Hyper-V]] virtual hard disk (VHD) image. To mount the eMMC as a read/write filesystem, the <code>sdbus.sys</code> function <code>SdhcIsWriteProtected</code> must be patched to return 0 (and the PE checksum fixed).
